Disability Services
The Office of Disability Support Services (DSS) at Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) goal is to provide you with supportive tools and services during your educational journey. DSS exists to ensure students have equal access as stated in the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This Office provides a variety of professional services which are tailored to the individual needs of the student. Students must provide official documentation of physical, mental health, and/or learning disability to qualify for services.
We provide respect, support and kindness to ALL students!
If a student chooses not to self-identify, BSCTC is not obligated to provide accommodations.
The process to apply for accommodations is simple:
- Complete the DSS Student Profile and return to the DSS Office
- Provide appropriate documentation of disability from medical doctor or other health care professional (within the last 2 years)
- Provie a copy of your IEP/504 (for recent high school students)
- Meet with DSS to discuss your needs and create a plan for success
