Why is accreditation important?
Accreditation is important for two reasons. First, it assures BSCTC students that they are receiving an education that meets the high standards of an independent organization.
Secondly, BSCTC is accredited to award associate degrees, a BSCTC degree is automatically recognized and accepted by all public or private four-year colleges and universities in Kentucky.
Big Sandy Community and Technical College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate degrees. Degree-granting institutions also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels.
