Graduation Information
Congratulations! You did it! Your hard work has paid off; now it's time to apply to graduate and celebrate!
Getting Ready to Graduate
During the term before you intend to graduate:
- Meet with your advisor for an academic evaluation to make sure that all requirements for your certificate, diploma, and/or degree will be met in time.
During the term you intend to graduate:
- Apply to graduate or visit the Office of the Registrar at our Prestonsburg Campus by the appropriate
term’s graduation application deadline:
- Spring 2024: April 1, 2024
- Summer 2024: July 1, 2024
- Fall 2024: November 1, 2024
- Please note: You must submit a separate application for each certificate, diploma, or degree you complete. If you need assistance with the application, contact your advisor or the Advising Center on your campus.
Commencement (Graduation Ceremony)
Big Sandy Community & Technical College holds Commencement (our Graduation Ceremony) once a year at the end of Spring Semester.
All students who are completing coursework for spring semester or completed all coursework during the previous fall and/or summer semesters are also welcomed and encouraged to participate in this annual celebration!
You must register* and order a cap & gown to participate in Commencement.
Note: Commencement registration is separate from applying to graduate.

Commencement Details
- Commencement 2024 on May 11, 2024
- Required Rehearsal on May 9, 2024
9:00am or 12:00noon
The college hosts two ceremonies – choose either one. Whichever time you choose, it will be the time for both your commencement as well as rehearsal.
(If you wish to participate in the same ceremony as others you know are graduating, you will need to coordinate that amongst yourselves prior to registering for your desired time. Register early as space fills up and limitations and adjustments may occur as necessary to balance participation for both events.)

Academic Attire is required.
You may purchase your cap & gown online or you may visit the BSCTC bookstore to order in person.
Deadlines for Ordering:
- If ordering/picking up at BSCTC Bookstore: order by March 8, 2024
- If ordering online for delivery to your home: order by April 1, 2024
