Ways to Get Involved

The Multicultural Student Organization (MSO) is dedicated to celebrating the beauty of culture and diversity within a world of disappearing borders by engaging students in activities which embrace various cultural aspects of the student population, the community, and the world. The MSO encourages educational awareness among all people, not only by encouraging students to learn about cultural aspects of other people they may encounter, but also by encouraging students to embrace and share their own cultures.
DEIB efforts extend beyond BSCTC’s campus. Volunteers are on and off-campus to support community engagement. Opportunities include networking with local businesses for student career opportunities and volunteering with local organizations.
Help new students by being a resource of knowledge about the school, courses, and the area. This is a great opportunity for student, staff, and faculty leaders to engage with the BSCTC community and make a meaningful impact in students’ lives.
Present a brief 10-20 minute presentation about a topic related to DEIB. Speakers will then host a 10-15 minute discussion with students, staff, and faculty about their topic. Presentations can range from history to recipes to inequities in the workplace and anything in between. See the DEIB LibGuide for more information.
Work at the Mountain Arts Center to produce podcast episodes on the DEIB related topic of your choice. Do you want to hear people’s stories? Do you want to tell your story? Are you passionate about a diversity topic? This is the opportunity for you!
Generate ideas for in-person and virtual, inclusive events. Do you want to host a poetry reading? Have you ever wished there was a way to celebrate your culture? Bring your ideas and we will work to make them a reality.
Recruitment is crucial to a thriving campus community. Use your people skills to help prospective students feel welcome to campus and encourage them to apply.
This space has been designated as a multicultural space. This commons area is intended to be a warm and welcoming space for the BSCTC community. Use this space to gather with friends, practice a presentation, study, or relax between classes.
