Our Mission and Vision
Mission
Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) is committed to the educational success of all our students, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, or age. Our mission is to empower, train, and educate our students to be leaders in a diverse society. To achieve this goal, we recognize the importance of integrating Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) into all aspects of our students' education to ensure their success in a global setting. To achieve this, we must do all we can to ensure that our campuses are safe learning environments for all students to the best of our ability. We make available for all students, faculty, and staff DEIB training, events, and various activities to expand our understanding and acceptance of others. Our mission is to provide excellent academic programs and student services in a diverse environment where all our students are valued regardless of race, religion, age, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.
Values
Here at BSCTC, our Values fall in line with DEI standards. We value diversity because we understand that there is strength in diverse populations.
Diversity – we strongly encourage and embrace our differences, as it brings fresh ideas and perspectives to all our programs, students, faculty, and staff.
Equity – All students, regardless of their diverse backgrounds, are provided the necessary services and resources to be successful in their educational pursuits. Students may require various services such as academic assistance, food, emotional support, and mental health support. These are just a few examples of the services that are made available to them.
Inclusion – BSCTC is proud of our efforts to promote a sense of belonging and acceptance of all our students, faculty, and staff. We embrace the diversity among our institutional population and gladly welcome and include everyone.
Belonging – At BSCTC, we hope all students, faculty, and staff believe and feel they belong and are a part of our BSCTC family.
Equality – Here at BSCTC, we treat everyone with respect and a welcoming attitude. For this reason, equality is vital as we interact with our students, faculty, and staff with positive regard and dignity.
