Technology Department Helpful Hints/FAQ

are you a new student?

Answer: Please go to the following webpage: https://kctcs.edu/Apply/ 
Then click on “Start Your Application” and proceed to filling out our application.

“YOU MUST BE REGISTERED FOR CLASSES FIRST”  Student Information is updated 24/48 hours after  initial college registration, please allow this time before attempting to create your account.

Then click “Setup your User Profile” and proceed to enter requested details.

Scroll down and you will see “Visit Student Self-Service” click on it. It will then go to a page where you sign into student self-service with your student login.
Answer: Please go to the following webpage: https://elearning.kctcs.edu/?new_loc=%2Fultra%2Finstitution-page  Under “Login to KCTCS (Kentucky Community and Technical College System) Blackboard Learn” you are asked to put in your student username and password. Click sign in.

Look at the top right hand corner of the page, you should be prompted to sign in or you will already be signed in. Click your Icon "MyPath Profile Picture" and click view account. Under overview, you will scroll down and see Office Apps. Click manage. You will see a red button that shows saying “Install Office” click it and your office apps will download.

If you are at home or away from campus, you can contact us through our helpdesk number by calling 606-889-4800. If we do not answer, please leave a voicemail stating your name and issue. We will get back to you ASAP. 

Are you a returning student?

Answer: Please go to the following webpage: https://kctcs.edu/user/ 
Then click “Reset Password” and proceed to enter needed details.

Sign in if you are not. On the left-hand side of your screen, you should see “Security Info” click that. You will see sign-in methods. You will need TWO sign-in methods on your account. If you only have one, click Add sign-in method. It is best to have the authenticator app as one and a phone number as a second, if not a personal email or text message will be next best. 

Answer: Most student email accounts will remain active up to 1 year. After that 1 year, your STUDENT EMAIL may not be accessible.

THE ONLY PERSON who can assist you with anything concerning an assignment is your professor. You can either contact them by searching their name in Outlook email, or message them through blackboard.
