A Message on Veterans Day

Veterans Day is observed annually on November 11th. History records this event with the major hostilities of World War I ending at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.
Armistice Day was first proclaimed by President Woodrow Wilson on November 11, 1919. The annual observance remained until the Congress amended the act and replaced Armistice with Veterans and it has been known as Veterans Day since 1954.

Many of us have loved ones who have served in the military. Our College has faculty, staff, and students who have served or are currently serving in the military reserve. As we pause and reflect upon the freedoms we have, I want to say thank you for your service as we celebrate Veterans Day 2011.
