YOU WONT GOLF FOR A BETTER CAUSE: REGISTER NOW FOR THE WILLIAM G. DUKE GOLF SCRAMBLE

You wont golf for a better cause or have a better time participating in this years William G. Duke Golf Scramble at the StoneCrest golf course on Thursday, May 12.

The annual fundraiser by Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) and the Big Sandy College Educational Foundation, Inc. will raise money for the colleges General Scholarship fund.

This years event is presented by Booth Energy, America Electric Power (AEP)/Kentucky Power and the Kentucky Coal Academy.

We want to thank our sponsors because, without them, this would not be possible, said Dr. Devin Stephenson, president of BSCTC. This is a community event that allows us to play hopefully great golf for an even better cause.

The college is still looking for teams ($400) and hole sponsors ($250). A special team/hole sponsorship is available for $600.

A new addition this year is the longest drive competition, presented by The Golf Academy. During registration, participants can pay $5 and participate in a longest drive competition on a world-class simulator near the 18th green. The winner will receive a certificate, a set of Cincinnati Reds tickets and, of course, bragging rights.

Dr. Stephenson said that the round of golf played that day will be like any other.

Every drive and every putt will open a door of opportunity for students to earn a college degree and/or credential, he said. It is important that we continue to provide scholarship opportunities to students and eliminate any such barrier one may have in pursuing an education.

BSCTC has served more than 24,000 first-generation students since 2008 and has experienced a 160% increase in degrees and credentials awarded during the same time.

Registration for the four-man scramble format will begin at 8 a.m. Mulligans will be available. The fee includes breakfast, lunch and other refreshments. First-, second- and third-place winners will receive awards and there will be drawings for door prizes, including Cincinnati Reds tickets, golf lessons and free rounds of golf on simulators.
