World War I 100 Years Ago: The Great War in 1915 was fought in the trenches between
the German and British-French lines from the English Channel to Switzerland in places
like Ypres and Loos in Flanders. But it was also fought far away in the Eastern Mediterranean
Sea on the Gallipoli peninsula at the Turkish Straits when the Allies tried to take
that strategic point so they could send supplies to their eastern ally, Russia. Presented
