WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS TO OFFER SERVSAFE TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION

Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) will offer an industry-leading food service training and certificate program on its Prestonsburg and Pikeville campuses.

BSCTCs Workforce Solutions will hold the ServSafe training and certificate program on January 31 and February 7 on its Prestonsburg campus (Johnson Building, Room 144). Each class will run from 8 a.m. to noon.

This is an important training and certification for those who work or hope to work in the food service industry, said Kelli Hall, director of Workforce Solutions at BSCTC. With the continued growth in the service, hospitality and tourism industries in our area, we feel this is an important certification to offer.

The course is designed to develop an understanding of the basic principles of food sanitation and safety, and how to apply them in food service operations. Topics covered in the course include: food safety regulations, flow of food through operation, food safety management systems, facilities management and employment training.
