TRIPS TO ITALY AND CUBA OPEN TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS

The Global Learning Organization (GLO) at Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) has announced two studying abroad trips for 2016.

Greta Heintzelman Slone and Dr. Fallon Watson will be leading trips to Italy and Cuba, respectively.

Slone, an associate professor of English, will host Italy: The Grand Tour on May 30 through June 6. From Venices endless canals to each Roman piazza, Italy has no shortage of awe-inspiring sights. Travelers will see Doges Palace pale faade change color at sunset, stroll over the Bridge of Sighs and explore the ruins of the ancient Roman Forum on this show stopping tour of Italian culture. They will explore Venice, Florence, Pisa, Assisi, Pompeii, Sorrento, Rome, and Capri during our 12 day stay. Highlights include Vatican City, the Sistine Chapel, The Leaning Tower of Pisa, and world renowned art museum, The Academia Gallery, where the Statue of David resides. Two general education courses will be offered in conjunction with this trip.

Watson, a assistant professor of communication, will lead a week-long trip to Cuba on June 6-14. The trip will include an emersion in Cuban culture, meeting local people and working alongside them in settings such as farms, health clinics and even a circus school. General education courses will be offered in conjunction with this trip.
