SAAD EARNS GREAT TEACHER AWARD FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Toufic Saad, professor of mathematics at Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC), has earned the Great Teacher Award for the second consecutive year.

Saad, 50, has been a BSCTC for 25 years. He said his formula of success is keeping the students first.

Treat students with the dignity and respect that they deserve; show them your humanity and that you are as vested in their growth and success; be prepared on any given day to improvise your lesson plan to address the challenges and difficulties they are encountering with the class material; but most of all, be empathic and be willing to listen, he said.

A native of Lebanon, Saad earned a masters degree in Computer Science from the University of Kentucky. He routinely teaches self-defense classes to faculty, staff and students, and also participates in the colleges Speakers Bureau.

Saad has spent half of his life teaching at BSCTC. I am blessed to be surrounded with top notch colleagues, with whom I continue to serve in order to make a difference in the lives of those we teach.

The Great Teacher Award is voted on by the BSCTC student body.

Saad resides in Johnson County with his wife, Sandra, and their daughter, Madison, a freshman at Johnson Central High School.
