HURD-CRANK NAMED DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL AID AT BSCTC

CrankCathy Hurd-Crank has been named director of financial aid at Big Sandy Community and Technical College. She replaces Denise Trusty, who resigned earlier this year to accept the position as director of financial aid at Morehead State University.

Im honored to have this position and to serve the students of Big Sandy Community and Technical College, said Hurd-Crank. The service we provide students helps to alleviate the financial burden of receiving a college education.

Last year, the college distributed more than $22 million in financial aid benefits to students.

Most of our students qualify for some form of aid, and it is important that we connect them with the appropriate resource, said Hurd-Crank.

Hurd-Crank got her first job in the financial aid office in 1974 where she worked as a student worker for then-Prestonsburg Community College. She returned to Big Sandy Community and Technical College in 2005 to work in the financial aid office.

There have been so many changes over the years, but our commitment to students and their success has remained the same, she said. My goal is to continue to provide excellent service to our students.

Michelle Meek, chief business affairs officer at BSCTC, said Hurd-Crank demonstrates an unwavering commitment to the mission and values of the college.
