HALL NAMED INTERIM DEAN OF CAREER EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

Kelli Hall has been named dean of career education and workforce development at Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC).

Hall, of McDowell, will guide all career education (technical) programs, as well as lead the Workforce Solutions division of the college.

Dr. Devin Stephenson, president of BSCTC, said Hall will greater leverage her experience with business and industry to the colleges career education programs.

Its a new day at Big Sandy Community and Technical College, said Dr. Stephenson. Career Education programming is vital to the college and our region. It is a critical component to economic and workforce development, and I know Kelli will bring a new energy in reconnecting our programs.

Hall said she plans to assess the relevance of each career education program by establishing a meaningful dialogue between instructors and business and industry.

We want to make sure that we utilize our partnerships to make sure our programs are cutting edge and relevant to the jobs that are out there, said Hall. We have tremendous faculty and staff who are committed to student success, and I look forward to what we can accomplish together.

Her new position comes at an exciting time for BSCTC. The college has finalized plans for a $4.5 million Broadband Technology Center that will be constructed on the Pikeville campus. The college has also completed a $2 million planning project for a proposed second expansion of the Pikeville campus that will double existing capacity and add a 300-space parking garage.

We are a region and an institution on the move, said Hall. The energy of the college, coupled with that of SOAR, ONE East Kentucky, our chambers of commerce and partners, presents opportunities that will transform our region.

A certified facilitator for The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People leadership series, Hall serves as chair of the Regional Unified Business Team in eastern Kentucky, as well as chair for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

She earned her undergraduate and graduate degree from Morehead State University and is currently enrolled in Eastern Kentucky Universitys Educational Leadership doctoral program. Hall is a graduate of both Leadership East Kentucky and Leadership Floyd County.
