GRIM ELECTED AS PRESIDENT OF STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION

Jerica Grim is the Student Government Association president at Big Sandy Community and Technical College. Jerica Faith Grim, of Prestonsburg, has been elected as president of the Student Government Association (SGA) at Big Sandy Community and Technical College.

Grim, a 2014 graduate of Johnson Central High School, is a member of the Big Sandy Singers and Band. She won the Big Sandy Idol regional competition in 2012.

Through my work with the Big Sandy Singers, Ive been able to talk to students about their experiences at the college and ways we can further reach out to our student population, said Grim, 19, who is pursuing an Associate of Science degree and hopes to earn a spot in BSCTCs Dental Hygiene program. My goal is to be open and responsive to the needs of students, and work each day to be a productive and responsible leader.

As the SGA president, Grim will be the student representative to the BSCTC board of directors.

Jerica has already shown a lot of enthusiasm, and I feel she will be an ambassador for our college to not only our students but also prospective students, said Dr. Devin Stephenson, president of BSCTC. We want students to know that they are our top priority.

Grim said she looks forward to advancing student culture and advancing opportunities for them to be more involved in the culture of the college.
