EAST KENTUCKY SCIENCE CENTER AND VARIA PLANETARIUM TO OFFER SEVEN SUMMER CAMPS

The East Kentucky Science Center and Varia Planetarium (EKSC) has announced a full lineup of summer camps.

The center, located on the Prestonsburg campus of Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC), serves as a hub for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programs that stimulate the mind and promote learning.

Here is a breakdown of camps:

Children entering pre-school and kindergarten
Good Vibrations - Science of Sound | June 2 | 9 a.m. to noon
Cost: Member $10/Non-Member $15

Pick up some good vibrations as you discover the world of sound like never before! We will experiment with different ways to create various sounds and explore what sound really is. Come make your own instrument! The camp includes the Peter and the Wolf planetarium show.


Jr. Farmers: Growing in Math and Science | June 30 | 9 a.m. to noon
Cost: Member $10/Non-Member $15

Ready, Set, Grow...your math and science skills as you explore the world of farming. Count, recognize, and graph fruits and vegetables. Explore animal and plant lifecycles, habitats, and food chains. The camp includes the Enchanted Reef planetarium show.
