BUDDHIST MONK VISITS BSCTC, TEACHES LESSONS OF COMPASSION

Courtney Foley, a graduate of Big Sandy Community and Technical College, met with Tsering Phuntsok, a Buddhist monk on Tuesday, March 1 at the East Kentucky Science Center and Varia Planetarium. Tsering Phuntsok, a Buddhist monk, brought a message of compassion to the campuses of Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) on Tuesday, March 1.

Phuntsok provided a lecture to Early College Academy students from Johnson Central and Paintsville high schools and finished the day with a community presentation at the East Kentucky Science Center and Varia Planetarium.

Residing in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains in Dharamsala, India, Phuntsoks home is less than a minute walk from the temple and residence of the H.H. Dalai Lama. His work is very well-known in India, especially in causes related to health. His projects include the solar hot water for young students and mold remediation to help with respiratory condition.
