BSCTC WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS TO HOST FREE OSHA CONFINED SPACE TRAINING

Big Sandy Community and Technical Colleges (BSCTC) Workforce Solutions division will host a FREE OSHA Confined Space Training on Saturday, January 16 on its Pikeville campus.

New regulations require many practitioners to have the OSHA Confined Space licensure, said Kelli Hall, interim dean of career education and workforce development and Pikeville campus coordinator.

We know that there are many people in our area who need this certification, and we wanted to get a class up and running as soon as possible at no cost, she said. This will hopefully allow companies and entrepreneurs the opportunity to continue their work without disruption.

Those participating will learn about the reclassification of confined spaces; air monitoring requirements; the definition of a confined space and what requires a permit; the new requirements for ventilation; and retrieval and rescue.

The course is targeted towards those in the following industries: contractors, construction, HVAC, plumbers and electricians.

The class will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pre-registration is required. For more information, contact Sally Porter at (606) 218-1276 or email sporter0044@kctcs.edu.
