    BSCTC PRESIDENT MEETS WITH 97TH DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVE HUBERT COLLINS

Dr. Devin Stephenson, president of Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC), met with 97th District Representative Hubert Collins on Monday, February 1, on the Mayo campus.

    We are very fortunate to have legislators in critical leadership positions working on our behalf, said Dr. Stephenson. I want to thank Rep. Collins for all he does for the people of his district, as well as our college.

    Collins was brought up to date on initiatives on the Mayo campus, including the completion of Phase I of a $1.5 million renovation to a welding lab and the Early College Academy on campus, which serves students from Johnson Central, Paintsville and Sheldon Clark high schools.

    This campus has a rich history of serving the workforce needs of the region, said Dr. Stephenson. We couldnt do this without the support of Rep. Collins and our mountain delegation in Frankfort.

    In May, 13 seniors from Johnson Central and Paintsville high schools will earn their associate degree. The Martin County Early College Academy, in its first year, will graduate its inaugural class in May 2017.
