Go to college. Go to work.

Thats exactly what the 2015 Practical Nursing program graduates did at Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC).

Kimberly DeRossett, program coordinator of the Practical Nursing (LPN) program, confirmed that all seven students in the 2015 graduating class passed their National Council Licensure Examination for Practical/Vocational Nurses (NCLEX-PN) on their first try and all of them are employed.

Were very proud and pleased to offer our congratulations to the 2015 graduates of the Practical Nursing Program, said DeRossett.

According to Marsha McKenzie, associate dean for allied health at BSCTC, this marked the second straight year that the Practical Nursing program had a 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX-PN exam.

The preparation for the [NCLEX-PN] exam is rigorous, said McKenzie. I want to thank our students for their work and our faculty for their passion they display each day in the classroom.

Dr. Devin Stephenson, president of BSCTC, said the pass rate and job placement demonstrates the quality of instruction we have and the respect we have among the employers in the medical community.
