BSCTC KENTUCKY COAL ACADEMY TO HOST FREE MINE RETRAINING CLASSES

The Kentucky Coal Academy at Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) will host free mine emergency, surface mine and underground mine retraining sessions later this month.

An eight-hour mine emergency retraining will be held on Friday, March 15, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the Pikeville campus of BSCTC (Room S230). Participants must have a mine emergency card.

An eight-hour surface mine retraining will be held on Friday, March 20, on the Pikeville campus of BSCTC (Room S230). Participants must pre-register and have a Kentucky surface mine card. The class will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

A 16-hour underground mine retraining will be held on March 26-27 on the Pikeville campus of BSCTC (Room S230). Participants must pre-register have a Kentucky underground mine card. The class will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

This is a great opportunity for miners to keep their certifications up to date, said Kelli Hall, director of Workforce Solutions and the Kentucky Coal Academy at BSCTC. We are very fortunate to be able to offer these classes free of charge.
