BSCTC CLUBS MAKE THE SEASON BRIGHT FOR MANY CHILDREN ACROSS THE REGION

Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) clubs and organizations made the season bright for many children across the region.

The Phi-Theta Kappa (PTK) Alpha Nu Zeta chapter at BSCTC worked with state and federal agencies to provide gifts for more than 140 children.

Dr. Kitty Miller, professor of information technology and PTK co-advisor, said the generosity of college employees and students made the season bright for many children.

Our employees and students always step up when we begin the Circle of Love project, she said. We could not do this without them.

Members of the Student Government Association (SGA) assisted with the Christmas in the Park activities at Archer Park. The event, sponsored by the Prestonsburg Womens Club, is one of the largest events of its kind in the area.

SGA and PTK members helped wrap gifts for children who attended the event.

Charles Moore, professor of industrial maintenance and advisor of the Christian Student Union, and Co-Advisor Stephania Conn, transitional and developmental studies faculty member, organized an angel tree to help foster children with Sunrise Childrens Services.

Staff, faculty and students helped make the season bright for 40 foster children.

I am so proud of our students and our employees, said Moore. Anytime we put something together to help the community, we always get great support.

The C.A.R.E. (Community Awareness Reaching Everyone) program at BSCTC adopted 30 children from resource centers at three Floyd County elementary schools.

Our students understand the importance of giving back, said Tammy Ball, coordinator of the human services program and advisor of the C.A.R.E. Club. Its an honor to work with these students.
