BSCTC CDL GRADUATE FINDS REWARDING CAREER AT BROWN FOOD SERVICE

BrownWhen Dustin Marsh is looking for dedicated and dependable drivers, Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) is at the top of his list.

Marsh, of Salyersville, is training coordinator of transportation for Louisa-based Brown Food Service. He completed the CDL program in 2006 and refreshed his skills at BSCTC in 2014.

Like a lot of drivers, I thought I was going to have to go over the road, said Marsh, eluding to the high demand for cross-country drivers. Through Brown, I was able to work and be home with my family each day.

Mark Cavins, human resources manager for Brown Food Service, joined Marsh at a recruiting event on May 14 on the Hager Hill campus.

Were looking for people like Dustin who are well organized and dependable, Cavins said.

Through a partnership with BSCTCs Workforce Solutions division, Brown has access to newly-trained drivers, as well as customized training offered by the division. Marsh said two recent graduates have already started work at Brown.

And we need a few more drivers, said Marsh.

We are thankful for the relationship with Brown and their contributions to our community, said Kelli Hall, director of Workforce Solutions and the Kentucky Coal Academy.
