BSCTC CAMPUSES HOSTING SOCK DRIVE FOR HOLIDAY SEASON

Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) is asking the community to donate socks which will be distributed to local shelters, churches and other organizations during the holiday season.

Leslie Bays, counselor and Student Government Association (SGA) advisor, said each campus is coordinating efforts to help bring awareness to those who are homeless and in need of new socks.

Its something we take for granted, she said. But the reality is that something as basic as socks are not available to everyone, especially those who are homeless.

Collection bins have been set up on the Prestonsburg, Pikeville, Mayo and Hager Hill campuses. Students are working with local groups within those communities to distribute the donated socks.

Its about doing our part to make the season bright and a little warmer for those less fortunate, said Jerica Grim, president of the SGA at BSCTC.
