BSCTC ART GALLERY PRESENTS EXHIBIT BY SHANNON SHEPHERD

Tim Sizemore, who oversees the art gallery at Big Sandy Community and Technical Colleges Prestonsburg campus, hangs a piece of artwork by Shannon Shepherd. Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) will host The Art of Shannon Shepherd exhibit in its art gallery through October 5.

Shepherd, who resides in Floyd County, has a keen eye for eastern Kentucky culture and his exhibit includes a collage of life in the hills, and the people who have endured and prospered.

I hope to represent and preserve the values, ideals and beliefs that have influenced my life and that have shaped me as an artist and a person, said Shepherd, who grew up in Magoffin County.

Those who view his artwork can feel his conviction core principals, which he masterfully depicts in bright colors and fluid lines.

Shepherd teaches art at Betsy Layne High School. He attended Morehead State University, where he received a masters degree in Studio Art. Shepherd is a member of the Maytown First Baptist Church, and his beliefs are reflected in his art.

His exhibits have been showcased statewide and his accolades include winning the best of show at the Kentucky State Fair and participation in the Kentucky Visions exhibit inside the governors mansion.

The gallery is located on the Prestonsburg campus of BSCTC in the Magoffin Learning Resource Center. Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon on Friday. For more information, contact Tim Sizemore at (606) 886-3863, Ext. 64746.
