BSCTC ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH MCCC TO PROVIDE COUNSELING SERVICES

Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) is pleased to announce a partnership with Mountain Comprehensive Care Center (MCCC) to provide mental health counseling for students.

Dr. George D. Edwards, president and CEO of Big Sandy Community and Technical College, said MCCC will have a therapist available to students on all of the colleges four campuses (Prestonsburg, Pikeville, Paintsville and Hager Hill).

It is important that we provide the necessary resources to greater allow our students to be successful, Dr. Edwards said. This is a unique partnership, and we are happy to partner with an organization like Mountain Comprehensive Care Center, which has provided quality behavioral health services to our region for many years.

Services offered by MCCC include: crisis intervention, behavioral therapy and individual counseling. Some of the common problems individuals face are depressions, anxiety, panic attacks, sleep disturbances and attention span/distraction problems.

I am hopeful that bringing services to the college will increase student access to counseling services, as well as linkage to the many other services and programs provided by Mountain Comprehensive Care Center, said Robin Gray, program director for the Healing Program and Childrens Services at MCCC.

It is important that we offer those who seek help the means to find help, said Dr. Edwards. We feel this is a great opportunity to bring a valuable service to our students.
