BSCTC ANNOUNCES EXTENDED HOURS IN AUGUST TO BETTER SERVE STUDENTS, COMMUNITIES

To better serve students, Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) will extend hours of operations and continue its Express Enrollment campaign through the month of August.

The college, which has campuses in Prestonsburg, Pikeville, Mayo (Paintsville) and Hager Hill, will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Dr. Devin Stephenson, president of BSCTC, said increased demand for classes and enrollment led to the decision.

We are experiencing record enrollment, and this is a way we can better serve our students and prospective students, said Dr. Stephenson. Our students come from all walks of life and we offer classes at day, at night and online. Its important that we be available to students when they need us.

Admissions, financial aid and advisors will be available during extended hours, said Jimmy Wright, dean of student services.

We are here to assist students through the admissions and financial aid process, said Wright. It is important that students seeking admission complete both the admissions application and their FAFSA (Federal Application For Student Aid) as soon as possible.

Wright said that both applications can be completed online, however, there are staff available at each campus to help prospective students navigate the process.

We understand that the process can be overwhelming for some, and thats not unusual, added Wright. Our experienced staff are glad to assist students through the process all the way to the start of class.

Last year, BSCTC served more than 10,000 students in credit, non-credit and workforce development programs. The college offers 30 programs, more than 200 credentials, online course options and the states lowest tuition.

Classes start August 15.
