BIG SANDY SINGERS AND BAND TO PERFORM AT HILLBILLY DAYS

Big Sandy Singers and Band on outdoor stage in front of green mountainThe Big Sandy Singers and Band will perform on Friday, April 17 at the 39th annual Hillbilly Days festival in Pikeville.

Clayton Case, director of Fine Arts at Big Sandy Community and Technical College, said the group will perform at 6 p.m. at the Billy Johnson stage at the East Kentucky Expo Center.

Were proud to be a part of a festival that raises funds for the Shriners Hospital, said Case. The festival attracts thousands of people, and we feel this is a great opportunity to showcase our group to people across the nation.

The Big Sandy Singers and Band is comprised of vocalists and students who attend BSCTC. Haley Sullivan, a first-year member of the group, was recently accepted to the music program Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. Many of the members of the Big Sandy Singers and Band participated in the Big Sandy Idol program, which conducts auditions and contests at all area high schools and conducts a regional competition each year.

Members of the Big Sandy Singers and Band are: Sullivan, Rebecca Risner, Jerica Grim, Bethany Runyon, Abigail Stanley, Ayngelea Stevens, Eric Sparks, Michael Stevens, Caleb Hall, Will Hayes and Caleb Howard.

The group is conducting auditions for next years group on Tuesday, April 21.
