Big Sandy Idol at Betsy Layne
Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) held its Big Sandy Idol competition at Betsy Layne High School on Friday, September 6.
Twelve students participated for the coveted spots for the annual Big Sandy Idol regional competition set for March at the Mountain Arts Center.
Allie Meade was crowned the overall winner, and the runners-up were Alex Meade and
Kayla Gillespie.
We had a tremendous showing at Betsy Layne High School, said Clayton Case, Director
of Fine Arts at BSCTC. The talent of Eastern Kentucky continues to amaze us when we
make stops at schools across our service area.
The event also featured a small concert by the Big Sandy Singers, an elite group comprised of BSCTC students.
Big Sandy Idol will roll into South Floyd High School on Friday, September 13.
Big Sandy Community and Technical College is celebrating milestone anniversaries on
its Mayo Campus (75 years), Prestonsburg Community College (50 years) and Big Sandy
Community and Technical College (10 years).
