Big Sandy Community and Technical College Celebrates 2nd Annual Alumni Homecoming

Prestonsburg, KY (October 3, 2011) Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) hosted the 2nd Annual Alumni Homecoming on Friday evening, September 23, 2011 at the Prestonsburg Campus. This event was combined with the Evening Under the Stars event hosted by the College during the summer months providing free music to the community. Despite the weather nearly 100 individuals enjoyed great conversation, good food and bluegrass music from the local group 5 Miles from NoWhere.

Dr. George D. Edwards, President was delighted with the event and encouraged everyone to join the Big Sandy Alumni Association. This association will help keep the alumni connected with the College as well as future events. There are various opportunities to help students achieve their educational goals and the Alumni Association can help keep you aware of those opportunities. Comments were also provided by Leslie Bays, Chair of the Big Sandy Alumni Association, Students are our priority and we want everyone to know of their successes and challenges as they embark on their educational journey.

Among those in attendance was former education faculty member Dr. Dorothy Carlson who shared some fond memories of her time teaching at Big Sandy. Emmanual Joseph, a recent graduate of BSCTC from Haiti talked to the group about the transition from Big Sandy to Alice Lloyd College. BSCTC has changed my life. This College has prepared me to go on to further my education. They are my family.I consider them my mother school.
