BIRDS OF PREY COMING TO THE EAST KENTUCKY SCIENCE CENTER AND VARIA PLANETARIUM

Have you ever wanted to see a Bald Eagle, a Hawk or an Owl up close?  Now you can! On Saturday, July 7th, Big Sandy Community and Technical College’s East Kentucky Science Center and Varia Planetarium will host Birds of Prey presented by The Liberty Nature Center from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm. Come see over a dozen Birds of Prey!

The Liberty Nature Center, located in Somerset, is a facility that specializes in wildlife rehabilitation, education, & conservation.  The 27-Acre facility offers sick and injured wildlife a second chance at life, provides local students with a unique hands-on experience, and delivers innovative educational opportunities for communities.

The center's wildlife rehabilitation program sees over 100 animals a year that come in to the center sick, injured, or orphaned. For most of the animals, the center provides top notch medical care that leads to successful releases back into the wild. Unfortunately, some animals have permanent conditions that would prohibit their survival in the wild. For these animals, the center provides a safe haven so the animals can live a full and healthy life.

The Birds of Prey program will begin at 10:30 AM. Regular admission rates will apply: Adults $6.00 (or $6), Students and Seniors $4.00 ($4), and Children 4 years and under are free.  This program is being sponsored by Prestonsburg Tourism.
