Big Sandy Community and Technical College celebrates Kentucky Adult Education Graduates
Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) Adult Education students celebrated a huge milestone as they completed their GED with a graduation ceremony held on the Mayo Campus in the Varia Auditorium.
Seventeen students ranging in ages from 22 to 66 years were welcomed by BSCTC President Dr. Sherry Zylka, as they received their GED completion certificate and celebrated the occasion with family and friends.
“I am so proud of you and so happy to share this wonderful occasion with you,” said Dr. Zylka.
Betty King received her GED at the age of 66 after working and raising her family.
She was very emotional as she walked across the stage.
“Here I am, I did it!” King said as she walked across the stage to receive her certificate
from Adult Education Director, Dr. Jennifer Leedy and BSCTC President Dr. Sherry Zylka.
Cliff Latta, a local engineering consultant and GED graduate, shared his words of encouragement with students. He had immense pride for the students and encouraged them to take the next steps.
“42 years ago, I was in your shoes.” said Latta “You are at a point now where there is no stopping you.”
