Some jobs just don't fit neatly into one academic program. If this describes your situation, this degree is for you. We combine work experience and skills in different areas to meet the unique needs of your future employers. Use your experience to make your own program! The Associate in Applied Science degree in General Occupational/Technical Studies provides flexible alternatives for meeting student and employer needs.

This program serves two general purposes:

  1. Individualized program provides a flexible curriculum that can be designed to meet specifics student and workplace needs.
  2. Degree completion provides a structure through which credit may be granted for significant prior learning experiences in occupational/technical areas.

What are my options with this degree?

Credit earned through certificate and diploma program completion will be applicable toward the Associate in Applied Science in General occupational/Technical Studies degree when consistent with the objectives of the students individual plan of study. This heavily advisor-driven model can combine certificates and/or diplomas in different disciplines for meeting employer needs for unique skill combinations for which there is no established degree program. As much as twenty hours of credit for experiential learning may be applied toward degree completion. KCTCS certificate and diploma credit and acceptable credit transferred from other colleges may also be applied to a students program completion plan.

How long will it take to complete the program?

This will vary based upon your individual plan of study.
