Why BSCTC? | BSCTC

BSCTC Closing

All BSCTC Campuses and the Morehead Extended Campus will operate virtually on Friday, November 22nd, due to inclement weather. In-person classes are canceled.

Why BSCTC?

It's Close:  With 4 campuses, we are close to the populations in our 5 county (Floyd, Johnson, Magoffin, Martin, and Pike) service area.

Lower Costs:  Our tuition is the lowest in the state-less than half of what you would pay at a four-year university. For more information on cost, please access Affording College.

In-State Tuition:  All military-affiliated students using the GI BillĀ®, current service members and their spouses whose home of record is Kentucky will receive in-state tuition. Online classes are available at in-state tuition rates for all students.

Online Classes:  KCTCS is the largest provider of online learning in Kentucky. We currently offer programs (degrees, diplomas, and certificates) that can be completed fully online, an option suitable for students who work, have childcare needs or other scheduling conflicts. To view Big Sandy Community and Technical College's program offerings that are approved for VA Educational Benefits, please access the following link: WEAMS Public site.

We Care: Dedicated veteran services staff are available at Big Sandy Community and Technical College who want to help you receive the full value of your educational benefits and help you succeed in college

A person eligible for benefits under the federal Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008 (38 U.S.C Section 3301 et seq.) or any other federal law authorizing educational benefits for veterans shall be entitled to Kentucky resident status.
