Big Sandy is a public community college serving the Big Sandy Eastern Kentucky region. The college was established in 2003 and is part of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS).

Big Sandy and the Mountain Arts Center is a partnership that has been going on since 2016. Built on the premise that people and organizations are stronger together, the MAC/BSCTC collaboration emphasizes the differing strengths of each organization for the common goal: to build eastern Kentucky.

Big sandy offers a wide range of associate degree and certificate programs in subjects such as criminal justice, diesel technology, human services, information technology, business administration, as well as workforce training and continuing education courses. The college has four campus locations in Prestonsburg, Pikeville, Paintsville, and Hager Hill, and offers courses online.

The college also has transfer agreements with several four-year universities, allowing students to easily transfer their credits and continue their education.

In addition to academic programs, BSCTC provides various student services and support, such as academic advising, tutoring, career counseling, and disability services. The college also has a vibrant student life program, with a variety of clubs and organizations for students to join.
