BSCTC Announce John Carroll Essay Winners
Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) is proud to announce the inaugural
John Carroll Essay Contest winners. BSCTC received submissions from various college
and high school students; the essays showcased the talent and creativity of Eastern
Kentucky students.
The essay themes (Patience, Professionalism, Kindness, Simplicity, and Goodness) were
selected to reflect and honor the memory and wonderful legacy of John Carroll. Listed
are the winners –
1st Place: Kaylee Hall, "What is a Simple Man?" (Senior, Floyd Central High School) | |
2nd Place: Josie Huffman, "Goodness" (Freshman, Shelby Valley High School) | |
3rd Place: Angelena Tackett, "Simple Kind of Man." (Human Services Major, BSCTC) | |
Honorable Mention: Eric Modrovich "Simplicity in Nature." (Associate of Arts Major, BSCTC) |
This contest was made possible by the contributions of Professor Emeritus Hope Bennin, who served as the contest judge, and Professors Charlene Carroll and Dr. Patricia Watson, who helped create the contest's parameters. Winners received a certificate and an award based on the following criteria: First Place—$100, Second Place—$75, and Third Place—$50.
