BSCTC Hosts Annual GenCyber Camp

Gencyber Camp

Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) hosted a GenCyber Teacher Academy on June 10-14, 2024, sponsored by the National Security Agency and the National Science Foundation. This academy allowed middle school and high school teachers from all disciplines to learn about the cybersecurity industry and the opportunities students can have through this career path. Teachers created cybersecurity modules to take back to their respective classrooms to increase awareness and interest in cybersecurity careers.

Dr. Kitty Miller, BSCTC cybersecurity professor and director of the academy, said, “The demand for cybersecurity technicians in our country is great, which provides many opportunities for the Big Sandy region. Individuals can obtain an affordable degree in cybersecurity at BSCTC and ultimately work remotely in the field.”

BSCTC was the first college in the state to offer an associate degree in cybersecurity. For more information about a career path in cybersecurity email kmiller0045@kctcs.edu.
