Lineman/Fiber Optics/CDL

Our Workforce Solutions division and the Kentucky Coal Academy have announced an innovative and accelerated training program that combines high-tech training for high-wage jobs.

The new program will provide students industry leading credentials in lineman, fiber optics, commercial drivers license (CDL) and OSHA.

12 Week Program Hager Hill Campus

  • CDL Permit
    • Drug screening ($30.00)
    • DOT Physical ($95.00)
      • You will need the following for the DOT Physical:
      • Drivers license with current home address listed
      • Family Doctors Name and Address
      • List of current prescribed medications
  • CDL Truck Driving
  • Fiber Optics Courses
    • Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) - 3 Days
    • Certified Fiber Optics Specialist/Testing & Maintenance (CFOS/T) - 2 Days
    • Fiber Optics Splicing Specialist Certification (CFOS/S) - 2 Days
  • Lineman Course
  • OSHA 10 Construction
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Work Zone and Flagging Course
  • Workforce Readiness
  • National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC)

Prerequisites

  • Attend orientation prior to class starting
  • High School Diploma/GED or TABE Test
  • Minimum 18 years old
  • Ability to climb pole of up to 18 feet
  • Safety Requirements: safety boots; googles, Weight Restriction (275 lbs)
  • Physical requirements: able to lift up to 85 pounds
  • Ability to perceive differences in wire color
  • Attend orientation prior to class starting
  • Students must pass successfully pass a drug screening. The drug screening(s) must satisfactorily demonstrate that he/she is free from the use of any illegal drug, un-prescribed controlled substance described or named in the law, hereinafter referred to as "drug-free".
