Workforce SolutionsBig Sandy Community and Technical College provides many types of training to the community. Our traditional programs offer degrees, diplomas, and certificates. We also have programs where companies or community groups may request specialized training.

Adult Education

Adult EducationIt's never too late for a new beginning. Get Your GED, Improve Your Job Skills, Prepare for Testing, and more. BSCTC hosts Adult Education centers in Johnson Co. and Floyd Co. Our GED classes are completely free. We provide the books, class materials, and experienced instructors to help you earn your high school equivalence at your own pace.

AOKY program provides pathway for Hall to become a CNA

Glenda Hall, of Prestonsburg, recently completed her Certified Nursing Assistant training at Big Sandy Community and Technical College through its Accelerating Opportunities Kentucky (AOKY) program.  She is now working as a CNA at Mountain Manor Nursing Home. Hall learned of the Accelerating Opportunity Kentucky (AOKY), which allows participants an accelerated pathway to employment and to a GED diploma. The student first approach gives participants the skills they need to succeed in school and compete in the workforce by working on technical and foundational education at the same time while also providing support services to participants through a success coach.
