The work of renowned Appalachian artist Jeff Chapman-Crane is now on exhibit at the McCall Art Gallery of Big Sandy Community & Technical College. The exhibit runs from August 19 through October 11, and an opening reception will be held on August 27 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

BSCTC Student Success Story: Catherine Twiss Noakes A sharp-witted intelligent brown-eyed girl sat in freshman English class in a high school in eastern Kentucky. She day-dreamed about what she would become and processed all the possibilities with a keen sense of maturity, anxiety and an intuitive sense of the world far beyond physical miles yet traveled. That's all to say: this long-haired, Jimi Hendrix-loving girl was easily bored.

Students at Big Sandy Community & Technical College can now stop by The Nest and grab a cup of coffee, gather school supplies, take home a bag of groceries or pick up clothing at no cost. Designed as a resource hub for students, The Nest is now open on the Prestonsburg Campus and will extend to the Mayo Campus very soon.

BSCTC students now have another great scholarship opportunity to offset the cost of college with the recent donation from the Justin T. Chafin Memorial Scholarship. The donation was recently and generously made in in the sum of $21,300.

Mary Mahalie Stapleton just graduated BSCTC this May with an Associate in Arts degree. She is a talented creative writer with a keen analytical mind whose curiosity to see the world was realized when she traveled to England one year ago.
