BSCTC ANNOUNCES PERSONAL TRAINER CERTIFICATEBig Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) will start a Personal Trainer certificate program beginning this month.
Careers pertaining to health and wellness are in high demand, said Kelly Adam, professor at BSCTC. This certificate will allow students to learn the complexities of personal training, while focusing on relationship building and support for their clients.
The program will provide students the skills and knowledge necessary to develop and implement exercise programs. Students who complete the program can work in spas, gyms, fitness center, weight loss clinics, corporate wellness center, private practice and with athletic programs.
According to the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics, personal trainers earned an average of $31,720 in 2012. Classes for the program include: Medical Terminology, Personal and Organizational Leadership, Basic Anatomy and Physiology (with lab), CPR for Healthcare Professionals, Personal Health Behavior, Personal Nutrition and Fitness, Exercise Techniques and Physical Training, Personal Training Practicum and Safety and First Aid.
BSCTC is currently enrolling students for the fall semester. New and returning students can take advantage of a Registration Blitz on August 10-11 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; August 12-13 from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; and August 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Classes start on Monday, August 17.
