Alumni Robyn Brown Returns to Big Sandy
Robyn Brown grew up in the small community of River, Ky in Johnson County and graduated from Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) with her Associate of Art degree in 2013. She became a substitute teacher in the Johnson County School system and continued her education at Morehead State University and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2016.
She wanted something more.
“I have always enjoyed helping people and during my time as a substitute teacher I found that I really enjoyed working in the education field” said Brown. “I was looking through the newspaper one day and saw that Big Sandy was hiring so I immediately applied!”
BSCTC is one of 16 schools that make up the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) and offers over 30 degrees and over 200 credentials. Students can find their path close to home.
“Robyn will be a wonderful addition to the Financial Aid department here at the College” said Cathy Hurd – Crank, director of financial aid. “She is eager to learn and eager to help.”
“I wanted to give back, BSCTC had given me so much during my time here, I wanted to give back” she added. “I want people to know that nothing is out of their reach and I want to help them how to achieve that”.
BSCTC is currently enrolling for the fall semester and will have the extended hours through the end of July. The college is open Monday through Wednesday from 7:30a.m. to 6p.m. and Thursdays from 7:30a.m. to 5:30p.m..
