Community Dental Health Coordinator
Published on May 19, 2017
Are you a Dental Hygienist? Do have a passion for serving your community?
Big Sandy is launching the state’s first Community Dental Health Coordinator program. Community Dental Health Coordinators work toward breaking through the barriers that prevent people from receiving regular dental care and enjoying optimal oral health. They are trained to interact, with cultural competence, in the dentally underserved communities in which they work. They understand the people, language and barriers to oral health in those communities; in many cases they already know the people with whom they will work. The training focuses on community outreach, coordination of care, educational and social interventions in the community, and prevention.
Our program is 17 credit hours and those selected for the first class will receive a $2,000 scholarship from Avesis.
Classes begin Monday, June 5.
