All in the Big Sandy family: Brooke Goble

Bryen Lynne Goble, director of human resources at Big Sandy Community and Technical College, is shown with her daughter, Brooke, on the Prestonsburg campus. Brooke will graduate on Saturday with an Associate in Arts and an Associate in Science degree.

When Brooke Goble wants to find inspiration on campus, she doesn’t have to go very far.

Goble, 19, a 2015 graduate of Paintsville High School, attends Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC), where her mother, Bryen Lynne Goble, is the director of human resources.

“My mother inspires me to be diligent in my social and academic life,” said Brooke, who will graduate this weekend with an Associate in Arts and an Associate in Science degree.  She plans to attend Eastern Kentucky University where she will major in biology in hopes of attending medical school. “My mom has always been hardworking and extremely caring, and she is super personable and dependable.  I’m very thankful to have such a great example to follow.”

Taking classes on the same campus where your mother works has its advantages.

“I’m glad I can visit her throughout the day,” she added. “It does make the college experience more comfortable knowing she is here.”

Brooke said she chose BSCTC because of the passion of the professors.

“They truly want me to be successful inside and outside of the classroom,” said Brooke.  She is a part of the college’s Honor’s and President’s Ambassador program as well as a member of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK).

Bryen Lynne Goble, Brooke’s mother, said she is proud of her daughter and the role the college has played in her future plans.

“The college has opened so many doors for Brooke,” said Bryen Lynn. “Going to Big Sandy gave Brooke time to explore different professions.  I’m so glad she started here, and I am blessed to be her mother.”

BSCTC is currently enrolling for the summer and fall semesters.
