Dr. Stephanie Lang, associate editor of the Register of the Kentucky Historical Society, facilitated a listening tour on Kentucky’s 225th anniversary on Monday, April 17 on the Prestonsburg campus of Big Sandy Community and Technical College. The Kentucky Historical Society held a listening session to commemorate the state’s 225th anniversary on Monday, April 17 in the Gearheart Auditorium on the Prestonsburg campus of Big Sandy Community and Technical College.

The session was facilitated by Dr. Stephanie Lang, associate editor of the Register of the Kentucky Historical Society.  Dr. Lang, a Prestonsburg native, attended Big Sandy Community and Technical College (then Prestonsburg Community College) from 1997-99.

“It’s always special to come home,” said Dr. Lang. “I have so many great memories about attending college here.”

Dr. Lang led an engaging discussion on what makes the Bluegrass State special.  She encouraged those in attendance to continue the conversation and focus on five things that make Kentucky “Kentucky;” two ways to celebrate Kentucky’s 225th anniversary; and two ways to make the next 225 years better.
