College hosts Women’s History Conference

The Library Seminar Series and Diversity Committee at Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) held its annual Women’s History Conference on Friday, March 24 on the Prestonsburg campus.
The day-long event featured seven presentations, varying from morbid, injurious and toxic fashion throughout history, to social media and the pursuit of happiness and the communication challenges professional women face.
“This was a very good pay of programming for women,” said Judy K. Howell, librarian and professor at BSCTC. “We are very appreciative to all the presenters and the more than 50 people who attended.”
Presenters included: Dr. Shirley Thomas, professor of biology at BSCTC; Dr. Patsy Jackson, coordinator of the associate degree nursing program at BSCTC, Dr. Donald Barlow, professor of history at BSCTC; Professor Mike Austin of Eastern Kentucky University; Garrison Turner, assistant professor of physics and astronomy at BSCTC; Michelle Fields, professor of history at BSCTC; and Laura Ford Hall, associate professor of communications at BSCTC.
