BSCTC faculty, staff and students participate in Clean Sweep at Jenny Wiley State Resort Park

Faculty, staff, students and friends from Big Sandy Community and Technical College participated in the Spring Clean Sweep on Saturday, March 18 at Dewey Lake at the Jenny Wiley State Resort Park.More than 15 faculty, staff, students and friends from Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) participated in the Spring Clean Sweep at Jenny Wiley State Resort Park on Saturday, March 18. 

The college helped sponsor the event, which collected more than 300 bags of trash from around Dewey Lake and the park. 

“We are so fortunate to have such a beautiful lake and state park here in Prestonsburg,” said Jennifer Little, public relations specialist at BSCTC. “We all know the beauty of our region, and we are honored to help clean the lake up for what we hope is a joyous boating and summer season.” 

Those who participated in the Clean Sweep were: Jennifer Little, Emily Bailey, Ricky Music, Dr. Lisa Music, Dr. Tom Vierheller, Sabra Jacobs, Jordan Slone, Tanner Shepherd, Tanner Wireman, Courtney Slone, Frankie Conn, Gina Rosita, Agus Sofyan, Firas Sofyan, Sabra Jacobs, Alexis Felber, Christy Felber, Malinda Porter and William Patton. 

Dr. Alan Scheibmeir, interim president of BSCTC, commended the volunteers for their work. 

“What makes our college so special is the people,” he said. “This speaks volumes about how much they care about our community.”
