BSCTC interim president recognized on Senate floor
Dr. Alan Scheibmeir, interim president of Big Sandy Community and Technical College, was recognized by Kentucky Senate Minority Floor Leader Ray S. Jones II during a trip to the Capitol on Wednesday, March 15.
“In my more than 40 years of work in higher education, I have never received such a distinct honor,” said Dr. Scheibmeir. “I’m very thankful to Senator Jones for his warm hospitality and kind words.”
The recognition capped off a day-long outreach to legislators, which included meetings with Representative Scott Wells, Representative Angela Hatton, Representative Chris Harris, Representative John Blanton, Representative Larry Brown, Senator Brandon Smith and Senator Johnny Ray Turner.
Dr. Scheibmeir presented each legislator a custom nameplate made by carpentry and visual communication students, a custom coaster made by American Metal Works and fudge prepared by BSCTC employee Angie Burton.
“I want our legislators to know that we appreciate their service to the Commonwealth, and we are back home in their respective districts on the frontlines of higher education and workforce development training.”
