BSCTC Philosophy Club to sponsor forum and panel discussion on March 1
Big Sandy Community and Technical College’s (BSCTC) Philosophic Club and Dr. David Profitt, professor of philosophy and religious studies, will sponsor a forum and panel discussion entitled: “Capitalism and the Culture of Wealth in America: Philosophy, Religion and the Economy” at noon, Wednesday, March 1 in the Gearheart Auditorium on the Prestonsburg campus.
Panelists for the event include: Dr. Alan Scheibmeir, interim president of BSCTC; Bobby McCool, dean of community development at BSCTC; Jerry Hardt, communications director for Kentuckians for the Commonwealth; Matt Smith, associate professor of sociology; and Dan Bell, professor of economics of BSCTC. The panel will also include three current BSCTC students.
The forum and panel will address the rapid changes occurring in the nation and world, and present a broadening of the understanding of the dynamics that underlie the social structure in America and the world.
The event is free and open to the public.
