Science Center to host Laser Tribute show February 25

Published on Feb 23, 2017

Big Sandy Community and Technical College’s (BSCTC) East Kentucky Science Center and Varia Planetarium (EKSC) will host Laser Tribute at 7 p.m., Saturday, February 25.

The show features the music of Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, David Bowie, Jim Morrison, Prince and more.  Patrons will hear the music from the EKSC’s state-of-the-art sound system and lasers will dance across the planetarium’s 40-foot dome.

Admission is $5 and includes the NASA Hubble Space Telescope: New Views of the Universe exhibit. The 2,200-square-foot exhibit immerses visitors in the magnificence and mystery of the Hubble Space Telescope and introduces the James Webb Space Telescope.  Featuring a scale model of the Hubble Space Telescope and several satellite units, visitors will get a hands-on experience of the same technology that allows Hubble to gaze at distant galaxies and contribute to the exploration of planets, stars, galaxies and the universe.

“We always look forward to hosting these special events that bring music and science together,” said Steve Russo, director of the EKSC. “I want to invite everyone to come out and see the exhibit and this exceptional show.”

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.  For more information, visit the Science Center page or call (606) 889-8260.
